About Victor

Victor P. Becker's journey with Parkinson's disease began on a softball field. At 53, the competitive pitcher noticed he could no longer throw strikes—his first clue that something was wrong. What followed was a diagnosis that would change his life forever, but not in the way he initially feared.

Over the past twenty years, Victor has transformed from a newly diagnosed patient struggling to hide his symptoms to an advocate, board member, and inspiration for others fighting PD. His career in human resources, spanning more than three decades, taught him valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the power of human spirit—lessons that have served him well in his battle against Parkinson's.

Victor currently serves on the advisory board of directors for Capital Area Parkinson's Society in Austin, Texas, where he works to support both patients and caregivers navigating this challenging disease. His approach to PD is refreshingly honest and unexpectedly humorous, acknowledging the harsh realities while refusing to surrender to them.

Now 72, Victor remains active and engaged, proving daily that Parkinson's doesn't have to steal your quality of life. He's an identical twin whose brother does not have PD, providing him with a unique perspective on the disease's impact. A father and grandfather, Victor finds joy in family moments and continues to believe that a cure is just around the corner.

Punch Out Parkinson's Disease is his second book, written to provide the lighthearted, practical guidance he wished he'd had at diagnosis.
